I'm Hooked! It's Legal, it's Ebay!!

Oh, so long since I posted. What do I find? Many people commented on my blog only to spam my site with links to their own. Rudeness, lots of rudeness. Due to that I deleted most of my old blogs.

Okay, on to new business. I am a certified, bonafided Ebayer. I started a week ago listing some of my old books, and toys I bought by the box full years ago, cluttering my garage. Things were selling faster than my typing fingers could list. In just a couple of days I had 18 sales of several items, some bundled, some not. I made two trips to the Post Office and pocketed enough cash to run and pay a utility bill in time. Whew!

What I found is things sell 4 to 10 times more on Ebay than if I were to have had a garage sale and I have had LOTS of garage sales in the past. Not to mention the fun of seeing people bid on your item and watch the price go up and up. Then when you win a little bell rings and a pop up comes on your screen to tell you that your item sold. FUN!!!

There is a learning curve, with everything and you do need a system. Here is what I do now:

1) Go through your items and make a pile or place in a box near your computer

2) Research every item first on Ebay. After you register with them (free) you can choose the "Advanced Search" tab which shows you the "Ended Listings". Those give you an idea of what your item commonly sells for so you can price accordingly.

3) If your item is a book, you can go to Amazon.com and see what the "used" books sell for to price competetively as well. Remember, people are looking for a bargain. If you want your item to sell, price it to sell.

4) Consider opening an "Ebay Store". It is cheaper in listing fees if you have LOTS of items. It is free for 30 days. I ran up over $40 in listing fees before I figured this out. The listing fees for an auction go from .35 an item to .70 if you want a gallery photo and only .03 an item, with a gallery photo, if you get a store and list them as inventory, but these are buy it now or best offer, not auction, which is the higher price. Believe it or not I had two items on auction that didn't sell. I increased the price, threw them in my store and they sold that same day for more. Go figure?

Of course you will need to register with Ebay and PayPal and I opened "Affiliate" accounts with both to earn referral fees from sharing with all you wonderful people. Here are my affiliate links and a link to my Ebay store. Happy Ebaying!!

What The Bleep Do We Know?

A good friend and mentor of mine, Susan Hutchins, told me last year about a documentary to watch for, "What The Bleep Do We Know" http://www.whatthebleep.com . I appreciated this film for using science and physics to affirm the value and the power of prayer. It also emphasized getting rid of addictions in our life will help us live at a higher level of being. Duh, most of us would say but to see it explained scientifically is an interesting perspective.

The movie uses actress, Marlee Matlin, to play an unhappy woman, who has been hurt and show the downward spiral she was engaged or addicted to and how by praying for and loving herself with positive words took her to another state of being, free from her anger and medications. I highly recommend this movie. Kids 13 or over would benefit. It does go into some explanations on sexuality.

Super Size Me!

This is a movie that contains "Hope, Health & Humor" if I ever saw one. I bow to the master of this award winning documentary www.supersizeme.com . I am so happy that Morgan Spurlock has found a way to reach both adults and kids alike. This film will create change for the better in homes and in the school's food system. As I am writing this I just got a call from a high school student asking me for resourses to help her present a case to the school system to change the food. YES!.

This young man literally risked his life, to create this documentary, which provides sound scientific proof that McDonald's fast food is both addicting and dangerous. He went on a 30 day diet of McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The before and afters of his blood work are outrageous. The test don't lie.

Watch this film and be an eye witness to the crime of fast food in our nation. Watch or better yet BUY this film, so you can remind yourself and your family of this priceless lesson.

Found a new site

Yesterday, while surfing the net, I found a new site for people who are either natural health practitioners or people interestered in alternative health, cultures, religions/spirituality and so on. They post events around the world and allow member to create their own personal profiles, with no cost to them, almost like a dating site (Not that I have ever been on one those). You can even link to any sites you operate that relate somehow to these topics. The site is http://www.godeo.org. They were nice enough to allow me to post a photo of "Open My Eyes, Open My Soul" with a little write up and they sent it to all their members. I checked their traffic on Alexa and they are a fairly high traffic site. I look forward to using them as a resource for posting future events, and soon they will start posting articles too.
